CAPE VERDE ARCHIPELAGO on the 24-cabin M/S PANORAMA

Embarks / Disembarks:  PRAIA TO PRAIA, SANTIAGO.

San Tiago is the most African of all the islands of Cape Verde; Cidade Velha, the Old Portuguese capital; Fogo Volcano which rises 3,000 meters over the sea level; San Felipe with a characteristic colonial charm; San Nikolau, a peaceful island with dozens of coffee plantations; San Antao, the greenest of all Cape Verde Islands; Mindelo’s famous nightlife.

 

Itinerary:

Day 1:- Arrive meet and greet by our representative, transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 2:- Transfer from the hotel to board the ship M/S PANORAMA and depart from Praia, SAN TIAGO the capital of the Cape Verde Islands and its biggest city with over 100,000 inhabitants. Praia became capital in 1770, following the decline of nearby Ribera Grande (now Cidade Velha) and was granted city status in 1858. Nowadays, as well as being the country’s administrative center, it is also an important port which exports coffee, sugar cane and tropical fruits.

 

Day 3:- Explore Praia, SAN TIAGO. Most of the interesting colonial buildings and museums are located on or are near to the Praca Alexandre Albuquerque, an impressive square in the old part of the city known as Palo (Plateau). Highlights include the 19th Century Palacio Presidential (Presidential Palace), the Igreja Nossa Senhora da Graca (Church) and the Palacio da Cultural. The bustling Fruit and Vegetable Market, located on the Avenida 5 de Julio, is worth a visit to see the Island’s agricultural produce and taste one of those Bananas. The New Airport (RAI), which opened in 2005, is located 3km from the island’s capital, Praia.

 

Day 4:- Proceed from Praia, San tiago to Sao Filipe, it’s a municipality of Cape Verde, situated in the western part of the island of Fogo. It covers 49% of the island area and is home to 60% of its population. Its seat is the town Sao Filipe. Agriculture is the main employment of the municipality followed by tourism and industries primarily dominating the municipal seat.

 

Day 5:- Explore Tarrafal de Sao Nicolau; it’s the name of a town and a municipality on the island of Sao Nicolau in Cape Verde. It also has a large fishing industry and agriculture.

 

Day 6:- Travel to Porto Novo, SAN ANTAO-MINDELO, SAO VINCENTE. Mindelo is on the island of Sao Vincente. Mindelo is the cultural capital of Cape Verde. You will have trouble avoiding hearing traditional music commonly played in bars and restaurants around town. The port at Mindelo has regular ferries across to Porto Novo on Santo Antao.

 

Day 7: Mindelo SAO VINCENTE-Mindelo is a port city in the northern part of the island of Sao Vincente in Cape Varde. Mindelo is also the seat of the parish of Nossa Senhora da Luz, and this island’s municipality. The city is home to 93% of the entire island’s population. The town is known for its colourful and animated carnival celebrations, with roots in Portuguese traditions and some Brazilian characteristics.

 

Day 8:- Explore MAIO which is the easternmost of the Sotavento islands of Cape Verde. Maio is located south of the island of Boa Vista and east of Santiago. The island is known for its sandy beaches and large forest, which is unusual for Cape Verde. The island prospered around salt collection in its early days of colonialism, with a little agriculture and grazing. There are two types of agriculture practice in Maio, rain fed and irrigated. During the raining season products as corn, beans, pumpkins and melons are being cultivated. Fishery is important and abundantly available.

 

Day 9 & Day 10:- After exploring & enjoying the above places & islands, disembark at Praia, SAN TIAGO and from there on transfer to the hotel, leisure for shopping and overnight at the hotel. Next day check out and proceed to the airport for the final destination.
